MSA Latchways Horizontal Lifeline System

Permanent Horizontal Lifelines (HLL) are continuous fall protection systems that protect workers over a large area. In their most basic form, an HLL is a wire rope connected at each end to a single point anchor. Their simplicity is deceiving, because their design can be complex.

our Engineered lifeline systems provide the total solution for all horizontal safety at height industrial applications.

The system’s versatility and ease of use makes it ideal for protecting workers as they go about day-today
activities such as maintenance, cleaning, access and inspection.

While working at height is tough, working at height on an incline can present uniquely different challenges. MSA has developed a comprehensive range of Latchways system components that can be configured to provide a tailored cable lifeline suited to structures that slope.

The Transfastener ™, the BridgeLatch™ and ClimbLatch™ devices are built to bring optimal security, flexibility and mobility to workers at height on horizontal and incline workplaces Latchways systems can be designed to operate horizontally, up and down inclines and vertically according to the specific need.

This enables systems to be installed to provide safe access for regular maintenance routines such as roof inspections and skylight cleaning, and also for daily safety checks of machinery and leisure structures.

The user, wearing a full body harness and energy absorbing lanyard, is continuously attached to the system via a Latchways Transfastener, MSA’s innovative device that can rotate through the intermediate cable supports. For systems with no entry terminal, a Removable Transfasterner can be used.

The inherent flexibility of the MSA Latchways design concept is ideally suited to the often complex safety requirements of people working at height on bridges. For example, on a suspension bridge, a Latchways inclined system can be installed to protect workers as they maintain the cables, a horizontal system will make it safe to work on the underside of the bridge, and a vertical system will enable safe access to the towers. Latchways systems can be retrofitted or included as part of a new build. Importantly, the quality materials used in the componentry of the Latchways system is proven durable and reliable in even the worst climatic and environmental conditions. Worker safety is assured because system operations are unaffected by rain, snow, ice or adverse weather

Designed to protect the user from a sliding fall on a sloped surface, the ClimbLatch™ device was created for use on an inclined system between 15° and 40°—though it can also be used on a system that moves from horizontal to vertical orientation. Compatibility among components ensures your customised system delivers smooth, continuous transitions.
