Again, like the Arc Flash suits, they are rated to reflect the level of protection offered.

FLAME RETARDANT TREATED (FRT) FABRIC such as cotton has been treated with a flame-resistant chemical that is a chemical has been applied to the surface of the fabric so that it becomes resistant to flame. The flame- retardant chemical may be washed out if improperly laundered.
